We raised over £700 at the annual charity concert in aid of St Chistophers Hospice, Sydenham. Many thanks to our soloists James Gordon, Kait and Emma Gray and all who worked so hard to make the concert such a success. We were delighted to welcome the children's choir from the Kelvin Grove Primary School, directed by Ian Lawrence.

Condolence
We are sad to announce the death of former band member, Mick Graham. He returned to Leicestershire some 15 years ago after a career in the Coldstream Guards Band and then playing solo horn and acting as band libarian with CPB for many years. We send our sympathy to his family and friends.

B Band - 21st & 28th June
The B band has had two successful concerts in June.
The first was at Trinity Church, Clapham on the 21st. The second was held at the Sanderstad Horticultural Society Annual Show on the 28th in glorious sunshine. Many thanks to the organizers for inviting us to play in those lovely gardens. Click for Sanderstead Pictures & Clapham Pictures |
Weekend - 7th/8th June
A busy weekend for the band.
On Saturday, we played at St John's School in their lovely dining room in aid of the charity Ameca. It was Derby Day and, in spite of an accident on the M 25, we started our concert in reasonable time with a full band. Fish and chips was enjoyed by all at the interval. (Pictures)
On Sunday afternoon, back row cornet player Basil Preuveneers and his wife Lisa asked us to play at their daughter's wedding party. The event was held in the gardens of their beautiful house in Kingswood. The sun shone on the happy couple and we sent them away on their honeymoon with a fanfare. Many congratulations to Lara and Phil. (Pictures)

Broadstairs - 11th May

Wonderful weather with a full audience this year!
A great afternoon at the seaside, including an introduction from the Town Crier and a visit from Glenda & Chris Atkins (former solo cornet player) now proprietors of the 'First and Last', Herne Common.
Thanks to the 'Deps' who helped us out with the concert.

Arnold Circus - 20th April

The first job of the year was in support of 'The Friends Arnold Circus'.
We were very pleased to help this vibrant local community maintain the tradition of live music on their bandstand near the centre of London.

Ex back row cornet stalwart and committee member Catherine Lord came to support us (all the way from Singapore!). The pictures from her recent wedding on December 31st have now been processed. Here is a selection.

The Contest Season
First Section - Hove - 6th April
7th in the Test piece but we won the March Prize!
B Band Fourth Section Nationals - Stevenage - 16th March
Following the Area contests, 4barsrest.com reports on the performance of the B Band ;
"Hats off though for a brilliant effort – full of character, enthusiasm and determination. With these attributes the future can only be bright for the band and it is a pity that many others who take the easier option not to compete were not there to witness them giving it their best. We hope they return next year and win the contest."
